July Netgalley Fails

Title: SNEAK PEEK: Dove Arising
By: Karen Bao
Rating: 1/5

Description: Phaet Theta has lived her whole life in a colony on the Moon. She’s barely spoken since her father died in an accident nine years ago. She cultivates the plants in Greenhouse 22, lets her best friend talk for her, and stays off the government’s radar.

Then her mother is arrested.

The only way to save her younger siblings from the degrading Shelter is by enlisting in the Militia, the faceless army that polices the Lunar bases and protects them from attacks by desperate Earth dwellers. Training is brutal, but it’s where Phaet forms an uneasy but meaningful alliance with the preternaturally accomplished Wes, a fellow outsider.

Rank high, save her siblings, free her mom:  that’s the plan. Until Phaet’s logically ordered world begins to crumble...
My Review: I didn't finish it because it didn't hook me into the story or anything... so moved now to another book on my list!

Title: Persephone / Daughter of the Earth and Sky / The Iron Queen / Aphrodite
Author: Kaitlin Bevis
Rating: 1/2

Description: One day Persephone is an ordinary high school junior working at her mom’s flower shop in Athens, Georgia. The next she’s fighting off Boreas, the brutal god of Winter, and learning that she’s a bonafide goddess—a rare daughter of the now-dead Zeus. Her goddess mom whisks her off to the Underworld to hide until Spring.

There she finds herself under the protection of handsome Hades, the god of the dead, and she’s automatically married to him. It’s the only way he can keep her safe. Older, wiser, and far more powerful than she, Hades isn’t interested in becoming her lover, at least not anytime soon. But every time he rescues her from another of Zeus’s schemes, they fall in love a little more. Will Hades ever admit his feelings for her?

Can she escape the grasp of her powerful dad’s minions? The Underworld is a very cool place, but is it worth giving up her life in the realm of the living? Her goddess powers are developing some serious, kick-butt potential. She’s going to fight back.

My Review: This whole series is going to be a fail because I couldn't get into this one book, sorry!

Prince of Tennis (series completed)

Title: Prince of Tennis (series completed, v.1-42)
Author: Takeshi Konomi
Rating: mostly 3/4

Description: From last Volume... The Seishun boys are just one match away from the national title! Ryoma brings out every shot he knows against Seiichi “Child of the Gods” Yukimura. But Yukimura's strange powers cause Ryoma to lose his sense of touch, then his sight. Swinging blindly, his hearing even begins to fail. My Review: Pretty good and the anime followed it pretty much, but the end was rushed alot!
