Orphans (minus Raven - not finish yet)

Titles: Butterfly, Crystal, and Brooke
Author: V.C. Andrews
Rating: 4/5

Butterfly #1
Description: All she wanted was to be someone's little girl... Fate made her a lonely orphan, yearning for the embrace of a real family and a loving home. But a golden chance at a new life may not be enough to escape the dark secrets of her past...

My Review: A couple getting a girl to follow the mom's footsteps in Ballet because the mom now crippled. Butterfly and Brooke stories are very similar... Butterfly is graceful as she walks and wants to show her new mom the very best that she can do but things so sour and her adoptive mother goes nuts.

Crystal #2
Description: ALL SHE WANTED WAS A FAMILY SHE COULD CALL HER OWN...As an orphan girl, Crystal was one of many -- and utterly alone. But she still dreamed of a shining life of love and happiness, and freedom from the dark legacy of her past...

My Review: Crystal is truly a smart girl and sees everything til the very end- but even if she is smart nothing can brace her for the melt down of her adoptive mother that finally ends in death for both her parents and grandmother. Her Adoptive mother is into soap operas, her father into saving all the money and getting the best deals. But alas stuff happens and her becomes an orphan once again...

Brooke #3
Description: All she wanted was a mother's warm embrace.... Brooke was an orphan, abandoned long ago by a mother she barely knew. And though her new family seemed to offer the promise of a new beginning, a dark voice in her heart told her that she was now more alone than ever...

My Review: Brooke love sports, her new mother loves fashion, and beauty... not a great mix when Brooke gets adopted and her new mother forces beauty pagent stuff and piano lessons down her throat and gets really mean about it when Brooke decides she doesn't want to do what her mom wants which ends up her adopted parents returning her to the system and to the arms of the people focused on the 5th book once I get there :)

D.Gray-man v1-3

Title: D.Gray-man v1-3
Author: Hoshino, Katsura
Rating: 4/5

Description: Set in a fictional end of the 19th century England, the story revolves around a teenage boy named Allen Walker who is cursed with a cross mark on his hand that turns his arm into an enormous weapon, which he uses to hunt down and kill akumas. An akuma, generated by a 1,000-year-old phantom, is implanted into a human's soul during a moment of devastation and despair. The phantom uses the demons to then carry out his goal: destroy all humankind.

My Review: I'm rereading this manga series because I never finished it plus its really good. Sad that they never finished the anime also. But alas the story is my cup of tea. If you like groups of people with weapons fighting against evil to save the world then this is yours too! :)

Nimona

Title: Nimona
Author: Noelle Stevenson
Rating: 5/5

Description: The graphic novel debut from rising star Noelle Stevenson, based on her beloved and critically acclaimed web comic, which Slate awarded its Cartoonist Studio Prize, calling it "a deadpan epic."

Nemeses! Dragons! Science! Symbolism! All these and more await in this brilliantly subversive, sharply irreverent epic from Noelle Stevenson. Featuring an exclusive epilogue not seen in the web comic, along with bonus conceptual sketches and revised pages throughout, this gorgeous full-color graphic novel is perfect for the legions of fans of the web comic and is sure to win Noelle many new ones.

Nimona is an impulsive young shapeshifter with a knack for villainy. Lord Ballister Blackheart is a villain with a vendetta. As sidekick and supervillain, Nimona and Lord Blackheart are about to wreak some serious havoc. Their mission: prove to the kingdom that Sir Ambrosius Goldenloin and his buddies at the Institution of Law Enforcement and Heroics aren't the heroes everyone thinks they are.

But as small acts of mischief escalate into a vicious battle, Lord Blackheart realizes that Nimona's powers are as murky and mysterious as her past. And her unpredictable wild side might be more dangerous than he is willing to admit.

My Review: OMG I love this Comic! the story to the characters and if there is a sequel I'll read it up!

The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday. To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years.

When an attack by fire giants forces him to choose between his own safety and the lives of hundreds of innocents, Magnus makes a fatal decision.

Sometimes, the only way to start a new life is to die . . .

My Review: One of his best stories so far, the characters are full of humor and hope. I love myths books, and this was one of my favs so far this year! Though I still need to finish a few of his series! and I will someday!

Archive: 10-6-2015

The end of the world didn’t happen overnight. After years of war, societal breakdown, freak storms, and rising tides, humanity already hovered near the edge. Then came the most unexpected threat of all: the world’s corpses rising up to deliver the final blow.

Hungry, lost, and terrified, sixteen-year-old Nora finds herself her brother’s sole guardian after her parents abandon them in the not-quite-empty ruins of Seattle.

The Color of Fear

Title: Once Upon a Zombie, Book One
Author: by Billy Phillips and Jenny Nissenson
Rating:
Netgalley Review
archive: oct 9, 2015

Description:
When Caitlin Fletcher’s mom disappeared (or left?) four years ago, Caitlin began suffering from breathless bouts of anxiety. Her new move to London, with her Dad and her brainiac sister, threatens to lead to more situations that will trigger panic. Now, she’s having anxiety over the possibility of having anxiety!
Caitlin’s life takes a turn for the bizarre when she’s tricked into climbing down a “rabbit hole” landing in a wondrous fairy tale universe —except it’s crawling with savage starving blood-eyed zombies. All the timeless fairy tale characters who once lived forever are now the living dead— think Snow White, Cinderella,
Rapunzel, and Sleeping Beauty. Even worse they’re famished. Definitely not the ideal situation for a vulnerable young girl prone to panic attacks.

My Review: Wow, I loved it. The idea was brilliant and even though I pretty much knew the end idea of it I just kept reading it. I couldn't put this novel down. Natalie was my favorite character this quirky and smart-ass younger sister was interesting. The Zombies were cool. Caitlin was so real, like who doesn't have at least one of her fears. The only thing that got me is that I'm a huge Alice fan and I expected her in more then just the end- since she is on this cover. But hey I bet she will be in book 2 now... LUVED it!

Diamond City Magic #1

Title: Trace of Magic
Author: Diana Pharaoh Francis
Rating: 5/5
Reviewed thru Netgalley for Publisher!

Thankz for much to Niki Flowers from Dell Bridge Books for sending me a free copy of this book so I can review both book #1 and 2!

Description: Even the most powerful tracers can't track you if the magical trace you leave behind is too old. But I can track almost anything, even dead trace. That makes me a unicorn, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, and the Lock Ness Monster all rolled into one. In a word, I am unique. A very special snowflake. And if anyone ever finds out, I'll be dead or a slave to one of the Tyet criminal factions. Riley Hollis has quietly traced kidnapped children and quietly tipped the cops to their whereabouts one too many times. Now she's on the radar of Detective Clay Price, a cop in the pocket of a powerful magic Tyet faction. When he blackmails her into doing a dangerous trace for him, Riley will have to break every rule that keeps her safe. Or become a Tyet pawn in a deadly, magical war.

My Review: Just finished this wonderful book. With a perfect mix of adventure, action, romance, and magic. Which kept me on the edge of my seat. The story is beautifully written and the characters are real-like. Stubborn and like-able. I love the tension and uncertain love between Riley and Price. The constant need to protect each other was cute. Now we just need some questions answered that were left alone for us. But soon enough I'll be reading book 2 so that's all good! I enjoyed this book way too much and I give it a 5/5 stars!

My Review:
I loved the characters and the story, but no questions were answered. In fact we got more questions and I found out they aren't answered in the trilogy of books and she won't continue this series so I stopped reading it!
