Before She Ignites

Title: Before She Ignites
Author: Jodi Meadows
Rating: 5/5

Description:

Before
Mira Minkoba is the Hopebearer. Since the day she was born, she’s been told she’s special. Important. Perfect. She’s known across the Fallen Isles not just for her beauty, but for the Mira Treaty named after her, a peace agreement which united the seven islands against their enemies on the mainland.

But Mira has never felt as perfect as everyone says. She counts compulsively. She struggles with crippling anxiety. And she’s far too interested in dragons for a girl of her station.

After
Then Mira discovers an explosive secret that challenges everything she and the Treaty stand for. Betrayed by the very people she spent her life serving, Mira is sentenced to the Pit–the deadliest prison in the Fallen Isles. There, a cruel guard would do anything to discover the secret she would die to protect.

No longer beholden to those who betrayed her, Mira must learn to survive on her own and unearth the dark truths about the Fallen Isles–and herself–before her very world begins to collapse.

My Review: OMG what a book... this is about a girl who learns to have her own voice and also has a secret deep inside her that even she doesn't know about. Everyone who loves fantasy and dragons should check this one out!

Kill the Queen

Title: Kill the Queen (ARC)
Author: Jennifer Estep
Rating 5/5

Description:
Gladiator meets Game of Thrones: a royal woman becomes a skilled warrior to destroy her murderous cousin, avenge her family, and save her kingdom in this first entry in a dazzling fantasy epic from the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Elemental Assassin series—an enthralling tale that combines magic, murder, intrigue, adventure, and a hint of romance.

In a realm where one’s magical power determines one’s worth, Lady Everleigh’s lack of obvious ability relegates her to the shadows of the royal court of Bellona, a kingdom steeped in gladiator tradition. Seventeenth in line for the throne, Evie is nothing more than a ceremonial fixture, overlooked and mostly forgotten.

But dark forces are at work inside the palace. When her cousin Vasilia, the crown princess, assassinates her mother the queen and takes the throne by force, Evie is also attacked, along with the rest of the royal family. Luckily for Evie, her secret immunity to magic helps her escape the massacre.

Forced into hiding to survive, she falls in with a gladiator troupe. Though they use their talents to entertain and amuse the masses, the gladiators are actually highly trained warriors skilled in the art of war, especially Lucas Sullivan, a powerful magier with secrets of his own. Uncertain of her future—or if she even has one—Evie begins training with the troupe until she can decide her next move.

But as the bloodthirsty Vasilia exerts her power, pushing Bellona to the brink of war, Evie’s fate becomes clear: she must become a fearsome gladiator herself . . . and kill the queen.

My Review: First thing is first... I want to thank Edelweiss for the Earc of this book and also Jennifer herself tho because she sent me a physical copy. I love this book... one of her best books ever! It pushed Mythos series down to my second fav. of hers! What I loved about this book hmmm well Evie is a kick ass lady that doesn't take shit from no one after the first part of the book which is awesome. The bickering from Sullivan and her is really cute at time and the hurt of them too I LOVE THIS BOOK! Go get it in the stores in Oct please! Everyone needs to read this one!

Scarlet

Title: Scarlet
Author: Marissa Meyer
Rating: 5/5

Description:
Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

My Review:
So my take on this is somewhere between Beauty and the Beast and Red Riding Hood. So with that out of the way and everything I think I enjoyed this book more then Cinder- as Cinder is still in this novel but is more like a side character in it. I love Wolf and Scarlet and Scarlet is a kick ass, smart ass lady that is so awesome. The plot is interesting also! And I can't wait to read the rest of this series soon!

An update!

Man July was one big slump of a month but already August is so much better... I'll have 2 reviews out soon enough on this blog not to mention tons of readathons and perhaps even a few videos over at the old youtubes. I don't know what else to say but its been a very hot and miserable summer and very lonely since friends are busy and I don't do well in the sun or over heated places and this month is usually the worse so yup the window is now open during to night to try and get that summer air in my room. URGH! So I'll be back :) TEHE!
