The Iron Fey Series:

I read the first book sometime ago. But this month I've the whole series even the Lost Prince. This series is written by Julie Kagawa which is now one of my fav authors out there- so lets get the reviews going...

So I'm still needing to read Summer's Crossing and another short story but I got most of it. The Iron Fey is about the journey of the Half-blood Meghan, Ash the Ice Prince, and Puck the Summer Fey.

In Winter's Passage after defeating the Iron King and returning her brother Ethan. She must go with Ash to the Winter Kingdom and talk with his mother Mab. So they head there but something in the darkness is hunting them down. I won't give away it- all these books you must read!

The Iron Daughter and Queen. They tell the story of the Meghan and Ash escaping the Winter Kingdom and battling the fake new Iron King. Which ends with Meghan and Ash exiled from Nevernever only to be bought back to defeat the fake and make Meghan the new ruler- which leads Ash unable to be with her which he can't have since they both fallen over heels with each other.

The Iron Knight is told by Ash, its his story of him trying to get a soul, and the journey and heartache that follows. With Puck and a certain cat, wolf, and a surprise they head to the end of the world where Ash will sample what it is to be human first- it scares him and thrills him... But he gets it and returns to Meghan's side to be her Knight. The only thing is that Ash isn't completely fae or human by this time.

I'm waiting for this to come to me from the library so I can read the last two short stories...

The Lost Prince was by far maybe my fav out of the series... this one is about Ethan who was left in the human world by his sister (the queen of the Iron Fae) but he has the sight. So he can see fae and thru the years the fae drive him nuts and end up ruining his life till he meets Kenzie and Todd. Ethan before that made sure that people wouldn't like him so he was an ass and he never wanted to deal with those faes that took his sister away from him. So he ends up in nevernever where he must battle a old race of faes and he ends up liking Kenzie alot. Also a surprise is waiting for him there too... I won't spoil it anymore... go read it!

To Sir Philip, with Love. 7.25.2012

Julia Quinn's To Sir Philip, with Love.

6th book in the Bridgerton Series

It started with a letter and ended with a letter, this Bridgerton book is the story of Eloise, a Spinster and Sir Philip, the widower and two twins that at first would do everything in their power to chase people away only wanting the attention of their father who instead spent his time in his greenhouse with his plants. Being a Bontist it was much easier caring for the plants then his own children even after his wife Marina (cousin to Eloise) decided to take her life by the lake on the grounds only to be rescued and dying days later. He grew a wall around him and only Eloise's letters to him got thru to him.

He asked her to meet him after a year of letters... and she actually appeared at his door. I actually think this story is the most heart warming story. It made me care about them so much. I smiled when they were happy, teared up when things were going sour. It seems to me that these books are getting so much better... btw Love them all so far!

Dark Guardians (5.3.2012)

Dark Guardians Books
By: Rachel Hawthorne

The Dark Guardians is more of a clan that isn't exactly located in one forest. I really don't remember where this one is located by... but there is a group of young people that help people hike and camp inside the forest so they dont run into there hiding places and homes. The Dark Guardians are shifters and this clan can shift into wolves- most people try calling them werewolves but they don't like that word very much. Also in these stories the boy go thru the change by themselves- the change is there first time changing at the age of 18 i believe it was... but the girls its so painful they need their soulmates there to help them when they turn 17.

In Moonlight, Its the love story between Kayla and Lucas. A girl who didn't know she was a shifter since she was an orphan and adopted. So not know her birth parents How would she know. She decides to become the newest Sherpa- which are guides in the forest. The Sherpas don't know that one is actually 'looking' for werewolves in the forest so Lucas is caught because of info that is given to this Dr. Kane and his son Mason who are hiking with them. Kayla and Lucas get out of trouble (I don't remember most of this story) and she changes with Lucas at her side after he claims her as her mate.

Next is Full Moon , Lindsay and Connor's parents think they are made for each other and they make them do everything together since diapers. They are close and Conner claims Lindsay but here comes Rafe, the misunderstood bad boy. Most of this book is about how a very confused girl has to choose between the boy she knows and is comfortble with or the boy that wows her and very kiss blows her away. She chooses right almost too late... and hurts her best friend- but what is the girl to do... She does this to save her best friend's life so the two boys don't end up killing one or the other.

In Dark of the Moon , On the same night as Lindsay's change farther in the forest is Brittany alone because none of the boys claimed her. She is afraid that being alone that the change will kill her. But she never changes... she fears something is wrong with her as she heads back home. In this book, Mason traps Connor and Brittany after she finds out she is more human than shifter. This is probody my fav out of the three- though I wish that there was a book with the boy's point of view. Or something. This is all you get for the third book :) I will be reading the 4th soon enough!

one star books!

The Empress's New Lingerie: Bedtime Stories for Grownups by: Hillary Rollins
Stars: ☠
Read: 3.18.2012

Summary: Ever consider what the beast really wanted with his young Beauty? Find out in this collection of wittily reimagined fairy tales for a strictly adult audience. In the title story, a haughty princess parades in front of her people and ends up showing off far more than her leadership skills. A modern-day Cinderella attends the palace ball in a pair of black patent-leather stiletto heels guaranteed to bring the foot-worshiping prince to his knees. The seven dwarves prove that what they lack in size they more than make up for in numbers; young Jackie learns more about pleasure from a beanstalk than she ever thought possible; and Goldie realizes that nothing is too hot when she sets about finding out which of three “bare” bachelors is neither too big nor too small, but just right. Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Sleeping Beauty–the erotic potential of these classic fairy tales and more is finally and fully realized in Hillary Rollins’s entertaining and titillating collection of bedtime stories for grown-ups. If you ever have trouble falling asleep, or if you want to get your partner in the mood to call it a day, try snuggling under the covers with these beautifully written and erotically self-assured tales from the annals of childhood. Better yet, read them aloud. There are few pleasures greater than sharing a good story with someone you love.

Thoughts: OMG the stories were too short to get into any of the stories and I actually finished the book but wish I didn't!

Stars: ☠
Read: 3.18.2012

Her family goes into hiding and wants her to assume a new identity on the run with them. But she refuses to become a fugitive and live a lie, as she puts it. She is determined to keep her name, to salvage the life she knows and above all to stay in school, even if she has to do it all on her own. But this may mean fighting off the people who attacked her home, and who may still be hunting for her. Along the way she learns she is not who she thinks she is, and her family is not who she thinks they are either. Who exactly is Emily Kane? Why is she so good at fighting? To solve the mystery of her identity she turns to her high school classmates. She makes new friends when she had always been a loner. But then she has to protect them from the danger swirling darkly around her. The only solution may be to draw her enemies out into the open and confront them face to face.

Thoughts: This book wasn't for me at all, which i am sorry about... I couldn't even get into it to make a proper review. :( I know I'm no help at all.

Beyond (March 17, 2012)

Beyond by: T. P. Boje
Stars: ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆

Summary: Have you ever wondered where you go when you die? Meghan is 16 when it happens to her. She wakes up on a flying steamboat on her way to a school run by Angels in a white marble castle. It is a school everybody has to go to before they are let into Heaven. On the boat she meets Mick who has been dead for more than a hundred years but still looks like a teenager. He helps her past the difficult beginning at the new school in a new world filled with heavenly magic. One day some of Meghan's roommates find a mirror in the cellar of the school and they persuade her to go through it with them - well knowing it is strictly against the rules of the school. Meghan ends up back on earth where she meets Jason. But Jason is in danger and Meghan knows something important. Something that is a matter of life and death. Soon she is forced to choose between the two worlds. The one she belongs to now and the one she left.

Thoughts: At first I thought if was alot like Harry Potter... The school for spirits, the headmaster is a old man with a white beard. I was like Dumbledore is this where you went too...

(laughs)

Also the ladders changing their locations were alot like those at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. But thats pretty much where it leaves the whole HP world. This book talks about the battle between the good and evil (fallen angels).

I'm glad the book moved a bit faster than I thought it would- for I didn't love it but I didn't hate it. I wish there was more things answered in it tho... Like how did she die and was her family really looking for her and was she different then the others somehow. Well I'll just have to wait won't I to get the rest of this story and hopefully answered.

The Outcasts (March 15, 2012)

The Outcasts (The Brotherband Chronicles)
by: John Flanagan
Stars: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Summary: They are outcasts. Hal, Stig, and the others - they are the boys the others want no part of. Skandians, as any reader of Ranger's Apprentice could tell you, are known for their size and strength. Not these boys. Yet that doesn't mean they don't have skills. And courage - which they will need every ounce of to do battle at sea against the other bands, the Wolves and the Sharks, in the ultimate race. The icy waters make for a treacherous playing field . . . especially when not everyone thinks of it as playing. John Flanagan, author of the international phenomenon Ranger's Apprentice, creates a new cast of characters to populate his world of Skandians and Araluens, a world millions of young readers around the world have come to know and admire. Full of seafaring adventures and epic battles, Book 1 of The Brotherband Chronicles is sure to thrill readers of Ranger's Apprentice while enticing a whole new generation just now discovering the books.

Thoughts: Oh Wow to this series... I couldn't put it down even being sick. So Hal is a boy entering the brotherband which is a coming of age trial/warrior thing that the boys do in Skandia. His father was a great Skandian hero who died in battle and his mother was an Araluen slave (the araleun's were the race that was featured in the ranger series.. which Will was mentioned in this book a little bit) So Hal is a thinker and they don't see much of that in their town. But since Hal is a mutt the others think of him as an outcast... They form a brotherband of the outcasts. (read the book guys its great) the brotherband is written by one of my favs authors of all time. So I'll be finishing the Ranger Series and trying to get my hands on the next book to this series!

The Maze Runner Series

The Maze Runner by: James Dashner
Read: 2.27.2012
Stars: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Summary:
When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. His memory is blank. But he's not alone. When the lift's doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade -- a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls.
Just like Thomas, the Gladers don't know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounding them open. Every night they've closed tight. And every 30 days a new boy has been delivered in the lift.
Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent up -- the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers. Thomas might be more important than he could ever guess. If only he could unlock the dark secrets buried within his mind.

The Scorch Trails by: James Dashner
Read: 3.9.2012
Stars: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Summary:
Solving the Maze was supposed to be the end. No more puzzles. No more variables. And no more running. Thomas was sure that escape meant he and the Gladers would get their lives back. But no one really knew what sort of life they were going back to.
In the Maze, life was easy. They had food, and shelter, and safety . . . until Teresa triggered the end. In the world outside the Maze, however, the end was triggered long ago.

Burned by sun flares and baked by a new, brutal climate, the earth is a wasteland. Government has disintegrated--and with it, order--and now Cranks, people covered in festering wounds and driven to murderous insanity by the infectious disease known as the Flare, roam the crumbling cities hunting for their next victim . . . and meal.
The Gladers are far from finished with running. Instead of freedom, they find themselves faced with another trial. They must cross the Scorch, the most burned-out section of the world, and arrive at a safe haven in two weeks. And WICKED, the people controlling them, have made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them.
Thomas can only wonder--does he hold the secret of freedom somewhere in his mind? Or will he forever be at the mercy of WICKED?

My thoughts on Series so far:
I still need to read the third book to make a proper thought about the series as a whole but so far it has my attention. The second book have alot of details of action scenes which I liked and the detail wasn't too much for me to lose focus. Even after 2 books the mystery of why the maze and trials were made and the kids placed in their isn't totally answered. We know there was a storm of sorts and gave people a sickness and heated the planet in some parts but the question is why Thomas placed himself into the maze in the first place. I just I'll just have to read The Death Cure next don't I. Love the colorful characters and plot is good and story moves... good job!

Five by Christie Rich

Five (Elemental Enmity) by Christie Rich
Publishing Date: August 10, 2011
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance
Series: Elemental Enmity
Summary:
Rayla Tate was just a child when her mother disappeared from her life forever. Raised by her aunt Grace in a small town, she has lived a relatively uneventful but extremely sheltered life. She doesn’t know it yet, but she is special. She has been hidden from the fae who have lived secretly among us since the beginning of time. Descended from an ancient blood-line of Elementals, only she has the power to crown the first fae high-king.

Sick of provincial living and the dictates of her aunt, Rayla flees the safety of her home and runs away to college with her best friend. However, excitement over her newfound freedom is short-lived when she finds herself being chased by a mysterious stranger on her way to school. She is drawn to him immediately but resists the compulsion she feels. He disappears into the night, but she is certain he is following her.

Rayla struggles to deal with the encounter while she adapts to her new environment. To make matters worse, Aunt Grace reveals that Rayla will soon be hunted by a pack of fae lords, each hoping to claim her power for his own. She soon finds herself surrounded by stunning men. Are they fae, or is this just normal college life? More importantly, who can she trust when she can’t trust herself to be near them?
My Opinon on this Book:

Let’s start off with thanks to Christie and the mods to the goodreads group called basically books that let me sign up to read this book. I love getting free books- and this was like Christmas for me. So let’s now take this time to talk about the book shall we (LOL). Alright I have to be honest that at first I couldn't even get into the story plot of this book but finally when I got halfway in the story took off in a flying leap. The story was too fast- and with this harem of all the fae's besides Finn going after her made her a bit slutty at times. Also her friend though at the end was very happy to be with her at the beginning I was like damn can she look beyond herself and see that her friend is being hunted. So I was glad by the end Cassie was being a good friend. I will want to read the next book that is for sure to see this story take off once again and to find out if she picks anyone plus is Rayla even her real name- I pondered when he asked her that. So hopefully this is a good enough review and I’m going to give you 4 stars since I did like it… wasn’t my favorite but hey it wasn’t horrible.

Hounded by Kevin Hearne

Hounded by Kevin Hearne
★ ★ ★ ★ ★
OMG, where to start. I get it that after 100 pages or so this book really takes off. I like the mix of all religions not only the focus of the celitc. And the relationship between Oberon and Attuis was just too cute and the ending funny as heck. The storyplot was very good, characters bright and lively. I don't think I have anything bad to say about this book... Tho my libraries don't have book 2 *tear* . :((

Season of the Witch Review

Season of the Witch (2011)
My Rating: 4♥/5♥

Ok here are my thoughts... Nicolas Cage plays himself once again but I believe that Ron Perlman is the guy who saved this movie for me I love this guy. Alright so the movie has a highly religious background... and these two guys are knight who oathed themselves to the church and God. But when they are ordered to attack villages that only have woman and children in them these two abandon the men of the army and go off as traitors to the chruch. Where they run into a plague and finally the town with the girl they claim started it. Thats the start of the journey- a very dark journey towards a town of monks and the last book that can stop the darkness that is sweeping over the land. So thats all I'm giving you about the movie. I have to say I wasn't ready to cry at the end but I did. I was like NO... The only reason this movie didn't get 5 hearts is probody nicholas cage... most his acting is just him playing the same or similar person. Oh by the way... this movie isn't for the faint of heart... plenty of galore in this!
IMDB Synopsis: 14th-century knights transport a suspected witch to a monastery, where monks deduce her powers could be the source of the Black Plague. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0479997/

Red Riding Hood Review

Red Riding Hood (2011)
My Rating: 5♥/5♥

Even despite the fact that most of my friends didn’t like this movie. I would have to say I did, I would have to say the acting was better than twilight and Amanda thank god can act. The story is your basic love triangle with a supernatural twist. Most I read about are vampire and werewolf with a human girl so I liked this story even better. Not to give away the story but I loved how the movie tried to get you to think the wolf was one of the boys attracted to the girl. I’m afraid I was one of these people so the ending was like a whoa really to me! I didn’t see too much bad stuff about the story plot or the other characters… they played them perfectly to my eyes. As you can tell with this review I liked the movie.

The synopsis from imdb : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1486185/synopsis
Set in a medieval village that is haunted by a werewolf, a young girl falls for an orphaned woodcutter, much to her family's displeasure.

Taking 5 - 1st Movie Review!

Today's Review is Taking 5 which on the cover caught my attention since someone at Herald Publications said "It's High School Musical with a Twist". My thought was kewl another movie in which teenagers are dancing around singing and since i've seen HSM 1 and Camp Rock I was all for another one just like that- even I watch Glee for that type of thing to watch. But of I was wrong. It wasn't a musical to start with... having a band in the movie and having only them singing like 2/3 songs doesn't entitle it a musical. Also I have to say but the script was just bad- I know this movie targets an younger audience but you got to be kidding me with the writing of this movie. Its like some 11/12 year olds wrote the thing. I'm not saying that you shouldn't watch it- I'm just saying it totally let me down!

IMDB only has a few lines in their description of this movie:
Two geeky teens kidnap the world's most famous boy-band in an attempt to make them play at their high school and thus boost the girls' popularity.
Now here is the trailer:
Later until my next review which will either be a movie, tv, or book... or just a simple rant... you never know!

The Unknown Spy by Eoin McNamee

The Unknown Spy by Eoin McNamee
★ ★ ★ ★ ★
This Book covered a very interesting part in Daniel's life. First he finds out that
his parents are not his 'real' parent only agents there to protect him. And then
murder follows him until the very end when a girl tricks him into thinking that
she is his sister and only living family. which was not true... betrayal was thick
in this story but I was hanging on every word. Can't wait for the third book!

I'm thinking about taking a break from the Lexicon for a bit maybe or do one a month!
